Navan Crèche is Awarded Quality Award for Second Time.

Navan Crèche is Awarded Quality Award for Second Time.
Mother Hubbard’s Childcare, Slane rd. have been awarded the All Ireland Centre of Excellence Award. This is the second time that Mother Hubbard’s have received this award. The first time was 2006 - 2008 and this time it is 2009 – 2011.

The All Ireland Centre of Excellence Award acknowledges the NCNA, National Children’s Nursery Association members who are providing excellent standards of care for children in Ireland. The NCNA/NIPPA All Ireland Centre of Excellence Award demonstrates to parents, visitors and members of the public that there is a commitment to quality and success in implementing and maintaining consistently high standards of excellence.NCNA members have always recognised and promoted the value of providing quality daycare for each individual child in their care. Quality childcare positively influences children’s earliest experiences in daycare and plays a vital role in their future development. It has long been accepted among childcare providers and parents that NCNA members deliver quality daycare. (http://www.ncna.ie/)This year only 30 (approx) childcare centres in Ireland applied for the award.Mother Hubbard’s and all their staff worked extremely hard to achieving this award. The centre had to complete a self evaluation profile and assess the centre under the following headings:
1. Activities and Programmes for Children2. Relationships in the Nursery3. Partnership with Families4. Health, Safety & Hygiene5. Staff Conditions & Professional Development6. Physical Environment7. Food & Nutrition8. Management & Administration9. Implementation of Policies & Procedures10. Evaluation & Review of Nursery
On Monday 16th November ‘09, Mother Hubbard’s had a validation team from the NCNA spend the day assessing the centre. The validation team spent time in each room with the staff and children and also spent time in the office ensuring all the correct paperwork was in place. They assessed everything in the centre from staff interaction to health and hygiene.
Mother Hubbard’s staff and parents were delighted when on the 1st of December they got notification the award. The presentation will be done in February ’10, which all the staff are looking forward to.
Mother Hubbard’s has also sent off their contracts for the new ECCE scheme which starts in January ’10. This is a new scheme which was brought in by the government last year and entitles children to a free pre-school year before attending school. Bookings are currently being taken for this scheme. For more information on this scheme call the manager of the centre Stephanie. Telephone 046 9059967 or navan@motherhubbardschildcare.ie
